Minimum of 3.0 mL urine
Supplies for Submission
Urine Cup (1), Plastic Aliquot tube (1)
Specimen Collection

Patient should abstain from taking any medications 72 hours prior to urine collection.

  • If submitting 24-hour urine, refrigerate 24-hour urine during the collection period and record the total volume on aliquot tube.
  • Random urine is also acceptable.
  • Send this aliquot separately when multiple tests are ordered.
Storage Requirements
Frozen.
Specimens are stable if refrigerated for 1 week.
Causes for Rejections
Specimens with the following conditions are not accepted:
  • at room temperature
  • in boric acid
  • in acetic acid
  • greater than ph 7 or less than ph 2
