Description
The Urine FISH Panel is designed to detect aneuploidy of chromosomes 3, 7, 17, and loss of the 9p21 (p16) locus via fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in urine specimens.

SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS
Specimen Requirements
Mix voided urine with recommended PreservCyt® in 2:1 volume ratio.
Supplies for Submission
PreservCyt®
Specimen Collection
Collect at least 33 mL of urine at the physician’s office.
Storage Requirements
If the urine/PreservCyt® mixture cannot be shipped immediately after collection, refrigerate immediately and ship via overnight courier within 24 hours.
Causes for Rejections
Specimens stored at room temperature for over 3 days or grossly contaminated specimens are not accepted. Click here for Specimen Rejection Criteria.

Limitations
Although the Urine FISH Panel is designed to detect genetic changes associated with most bladder cancers, there will be some bladder cancers whose changes cannot be detected by this test.
