SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS
Specimen
Swab of a lesion using either an APTIMA® unisex swab or vaginal swab or viral transport swab
Specimen Collection
  1. Swab the lesion using sufficient pressure to ensure good contact of the swab with the lesion. Gently rotate the swab.
  2. Remove the cap from the specimen transport tube.
  3. Immediately place the swab into the transport tube. Carefully break the shaft against the side of the tube at the scoreline.
  4. Discard the top portion of the swab shaft. Tightly re-cap the transport tube.
Storage Requirements
Store and transport specimens at room temperature (15 to 30°C).
Causes for Rejections
