A plastic tube containing a sterile swab and transport medium acceptable for the cultivation of aerobic bacteria. Example: Swab/tube system containing Amies transport media.

- Pass the tip of a sterile swab approximately 1 inch beyond the anal sphincter.
- Carefully rotate the swab to sample the anal crypts and withdraw the swab.
Place the swab in transport medium.
IMPORTANT: Indicate source of specimen.
Storage Requirements
Room Temperature.
Specimens are stable if stored at room temperature for 48 hours.
Stool specimens are stable if stored at room temperature for 24 hours only.
