Swab from endocervix, endourethra, conjunctiva, rectal mucosa, peritoneal fluid, or cul-de-sac fluid.

Specimen Collection
Before ordering, please contact Microbiology Department.
Submit specimen in M4 viral transport media
(required) and indicate specimen source
(required).
Storage Requirements
All specimens except tissue: Critical Refrigerated; stable if stored at room temperature for 8 hours or refrigerated for 1 week. Frozen specimens are not accepted.
Tissue specimens: Frozen; stable if frozen for 30 days. Room temperature or refrigerated specimens are not accepted.
Causes for Rejections
Specimens with the following conditions are not accepted:
- samples not submitted in viral or Chlamydia transport media
- respiratory samples
- samples submitted in gel swabs
- samples submitted without swab
- swab with wooden shaft
- urine
