Kidney Stone Risk Panel, Urine

This panel comprises the following tests:

• Calcium
• Citric Acid
• Creatinine
• Oxalate
• Uric Acid

24-hour urine

Calculi Risk/Supersaturation Urine Collection Kit (ARUP supply# 46007); alternately 4 transport tubes.

1. During the collection period, refrigerate 24-hour urine and record the total volume and collection time interval.
2. Label aliquot/ transport tubes with two identifiers.
3. Mix the urine and using the collection kit, aliquot as follows:
4. 1^st aliquot (pH 2) – Transfer a minimum of 4 mL into a Sulfamic Acid tube. Mix well and freeze immediately.
5. 2^nd aliquot (pH 2) – Transfer a minimum of 4 mL into a Sulfamic Acid tube. Mix well and freeze immediately.
6. 3^rd aliquot (pH 9) – Transfer a minimum of 4 mL into a Sodium Carbonate tube. Mix well and freeze immediately.
7. 4^th aliquot – Transfer a minimum of 4 mL into an Unpreserved tube. Freeze immediately.
8. If collection kit is unavailable, submit four 4-mL aliquots of 24-hour urine.
9. Record the total volume and collection time interval on the tubes and requisition, and transport to the lab.

Critical Frozen (CFZ)
Specimens are stable if frozen for 2 weeks.

Specimens stored at room temperature or refrigerated specimens are not accepted.
