Specimen Collection
- For patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (> 5 mg/day), wait for at least 8 hours following the last biotin administration before collecting samples.
- The ideal sampling time is immediately before the next oral dose (trough). DO NOT advise patients to delay their next scheduled dose without the advice of their physicians.
According to consensus guidelines, the therapeutic range is not clearly defined; however, the target trough concentrations are 5 – 20 ng/mL post-transplant.
Submit a minimum of 3.0 mL whole blood.
Storage Requirements
Refrigerated.
Specimens are stable if stored at room temperature for 5 days, refrigerated for 7 days, or frozen for 3 months.
