SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS
Specimen
Paraffin block or labeled slides of skin
Supplies for Submission
Transport media (Michel’s or Zeus solution)
Specimen Collection
Use a sharp 4-mm punch. If biopsy specimen is to be divided, use a 5-mm punch (an excisional biopsy may be needed). When dividing, cut with a very sharp razor blade to obtain a clean cut. Do not squeeze or twist the specimen.
Storage Requirements
Store specimens at room temperature (15 to 30°C) until transported. DO NOT freeze.

Limitations
Specimen collected in 10% neutral buffered formalin cannot be stained with this procedure.
